One of the most challenging aspects of starting a career in Nondestructive Testing is obtaining the training, experience, and practical skills needed to qualify for certification and become a productive inspector in the field. Many employers prefer hiring individuals who already possess hands-on experience and a demonstrated understanding of inspection methods.
TXNDT Labs was created to help bridge that gap.
The TXNDT Lab provides students, trainees, and working professionals with an opportunity to develop practical skills, gain supervised experience, and build confidence using real equipment, real procedures, and real-world inspection scenarios. Whether you are pursuing experience in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), or Visual Testing (VT), TXNDT Labs provides access to equipment, reference standards, test specimens, and qualified instructor support.
Unlike traditional classroom training, TXNDT Labs allows participants to apply what they have learned in a practical environment while working through realistic inspection challenges.
Participants may gain experience with:
The TXNDT Lab was designed to help individuals build the experience and confidence needed to successfully transition from the classroom to the field.
As of the 2024 edition of ASNT SNT-TC-1A, certain experience obtained in a laboratory environment may be credited toward experience requirements where permitted by the employer's Written Practice and applicable certification program. Because qualification and certification requirements vary between employers, participants should always consult their employer's Written Practice regarding qualification, experience, examination, and certification requirements.
While participation in TXNDT Labs does not guarantee certification or employment, it provides valuable opportunities to develop practical skills, accumulate applicable experience, and strengthen qualifications that employers throughout the NDT industry look for when hiring personnel.
Our goal is simple: help develop competent inspectors who are prepared to perform meaningful work in the field.
