Senior Instructors/General Manager

Garrett Ehler – ASNT/ACCP Level III, AWS-CWI

Mr. Ehler is a 1998 graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas with dual degrees in Environmental Science and Psychology. After spending several years in the heavy construction and utility industries, Mr. Ehler was one of the founding employees of ReliaPOLE Inspection Services Company (Now Exo Group), a Houston based inspection firm focused on the global pole and lattice tower industries. As the Vice President of Field Services at RISC, Ehler gravitated towards nondestructive testing where he gained an expert understanding of both the theoretical aspects of the industry and (more importantly) their practical applications in a variety of service environments and conditions.

As TXNDT’s Senior Instructors and General Manager, Mr. Ehler is committed to providing his students with the ideal curriculum consisting of both the theories and science behind each course offered, but also their use in real-world applications and best practices. Training Director

James Voorhees – ASNT Level III, AWS-CWI

Mr. Voorhees brings more than two decades of hands‑on and program‑level experience in welding, nondestructive testing (NDT), and quality management to TXNDT. He began his career in an automotive fabrication shop around 2000, developing a strong practical foundation in welding processes, fabrication practices, and inspection requirements.

In 2009, Mr. Voorhees earned his AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential, and in 2010 he transitioned into the oil and gas industry. Since that time, he has been involved in all aspects of quality, including auditing, procedure development, compliance alignment, and technician training across multiple inspection disciplines and operating environments.

Mr. Voorhees holds ASNT certifications in four NDT methods (UT, MT, PT, and VT) and has extensive experience applying industry standards and recommended practices to both field operations and formal training programs. His work emphasizes clear procedures, technically sound instruction, and certification systems that reflect real‑world inspection demands.

As Program Manager for NDT and Welding and a key leader within TXNDT, Mr. Voorhees is responsible for developing scalable training programs, managing certification pathways, and ensuring instructional content aligns with current codes, standards, and industry best practices. His approach bridges practical field experience with structured education, helping students and technicians build durable, standards‑based careers in nondestructive testing and welding inspection.
